# Code workspaces

A **code workspace** is a Coder runtime with Forgejo for repository and branch. The footer labels it **Code workspace**. The [business workspace](/v2/capabilities/platform/business-workspaces) is the Nexus collaboration space in the dock mark; do not confuse the two.

The footer shows Repo, Branch, and Code workspace when you are in **Code** or on **Slides**. On Slides, Repo is `abi/monorepo` and the branch is `slides/<slug>`. Chat, Maps, and Files leave those fields empty.

`abi new project` alone does not create the coding stack. [Enable the Code dock](/v2/capabilities/platform/enable-the-code-dock) covers `--with-coding`, feature flags, and why `config.yaml` for `abi dev up` keeps Code off without a coding scaffold. [Open a code workspace](/v2/capabilities/platform/open-a-code-workspace) is how owners and admins reach the editor from Nexus. Repository layout is on [Repositories](/capabilities/platform/repositories) and the footer section of [Orientation and navigation](/v2/capabilities/get-started/orientation).
