# Chat

Chat is a dock section for conversations with agents and your team. After [sign-in](/v2/capabilities/get-started/sign-in) Nexus opens here at `/workspace/{id}/chat`.

<!-- matrix -->

The dock row appears when the workspace feature `chat` is enabled. Defaults and role visibility are on [Organization settings](/v2/capabilities/platform/organization-and-members). The dock list is on [Orientation and navigation](/v2/capabilities/get-started/orientation).

*Chat after sign-in. The dock is the column on the left. On Chat, Repo, Branch, and Code workspace stay empty.*

[Home](/v2/capabilities/platform/home) can show a Chat shortcut when the feature is on. A first chat from a new project is step 5 of the [Quickstart](/capabilities/get-started/quickstart#5-chat-with-abi). Agent threads, models, and tools are documented on [Chat with an agent](/v2/capabilities/build/agents/chat-with-an-agent); that page covers Nexus, `abi chat`, Python, and the completion route.
