# Agent tiers

Application, custom, domain, and personal agents sit on the DIKW ladder: data, information, knowledge, wisdom. Decision risk rises as you move down toward raw data.

This is a way to talk about agent roles, not a second runtime. An ABI agent is still a model, a system prompt, and tools. See [Agents](/customize/capabilities/agents).

- **Application agents**: facts, figures, signals, measurements
- **Custom agents**: focused work for a specific outcome
- **Domain agents**: experts on a business function or open data
- **Personal AI**: advisor that holds the user's patterns and principles
- **Humans**: still the ones who navigate chaotic systems
