# Search

Search is a dock section. The header says Search. It is on when the workspace feature `search` is enabled. In the default policy that is owners and admins, not members or viewers. The matrix is on [Organization settings](/capabilities/platform/organization-and-members). The dock row is on [Orientation and navigation](/capabilities/get-started/orientation).

*Search before a query. The scopes switched on here are People, Organizations, Apps, Chats, and Agents.*

<!-- matrix -->

The header subtitle is "People, organizations, apps, files, chats, ontology and more". The box runs only the scopes that are switched on. On the NaasAI workspace in this shot, that is six: three topics (People, Organizations, Products) and three workspace scopes (Apps, Chats, Agents).

Open the scope column from the panel control. It groups them:

| Group | What it reads |
|---|---|
| Custom | SPARQL topics, such as people and organizations. The column's first link is All topics. Enabled topics come from workspace Settings, on Search. |
| Workspace | A feature scope exists when that feature is on and the workspace has not switched it off: Apps, Chats, Files, Documents, Slides, Sheets, Datasets, Ontology, Knowledge graph, Maps, and Agents. |
| Web | Wikipedia and DuckDuckGo. Off until the scope is turned on. The query leaves Nexus. |

Without a chosen scope, the page is All: the query runs in every scope that is switched on. One scope opens with `?scope=<id>`. The query is in the URL. Topic results stay cached for a day. Refresh reads the graphs again.

The top bar still opens the quick-open palette (⌘K). The dock Search button opens this section like the other dock rows.
