# Run a search

Search is a dock section at `/workspace/{id}/search`. The header says Search. Type in the box to run the query in every [scope](/capabilities/platform/choose-search-scopes) that is switched on, or open one scope alone so only that provider answers.

## Web UI

### Open Search

In the left dock, select **Search**. If the row is missing, your role may not have the `search` feature.

### Enter a query

Type in the search box. With no scope selected in the URL, the page is **All**: each enabled scope returns a short group of hits and a link to its full view.

To search one scope only, pick it in the scope column or open a URL with `?scope=<id>&q=...`. The query stays in the address bar so you can bookmark or share it.

*A query on All: each scope that matches returns a short group, with Open for its full view.*

### Open a result

Select a hit to open the destination that scope defines: a topic **Profile** (or other detail label), an app or file, or an external page for Web results.

Topic scopes cache results for a day. Refresh on the results view reads the graphs again.

## CLI
