# Skills

A skill is a reusable prompt for a recurring task, saved in a Nexus workspace. It has a name, a chat command (`/weekly-report`), a one-line description, the prompt itself, a visibility, and an on/off switch. Run it in the chat with `/<slug>`. Every enabled skill is also handed to the agent on each chat turn, so the agent applies a matching skill without being asked.

Skills belong to the Nexus chat. No module code, `abi` command or `config.yaml` key creates one: use the chat, Settings › Skills or the REST API.

## Key concepts

- **Slug**: the chat command, in lowercase with hyphens. It defaults to the name. `skills` and `create-skill` are built-in commands and never a slug.
- **Visibility**: **Private (only me)**, the default; **Workspace**, for everyone in the workspace; or **Organization**, for every workspace of the organization. Only its creator can change or delete a private skill.
- **Enabled**: only enabled skills are handed to the agent. Settings › Skills keeps the disabled ones.
- **Skills agent**: the **Skills** agent of `naas_abi` writes and saves skills from the chat, and lists, edits and deletes them on request.
- **Feature flag**: `skills` in `nexus_config.feature_flags`, on for every workspace role by default. It shows the Skills group in the chat sidebar.
